Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to our server or anyone else.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. WebP supports an alpha channel, so transparent areas in your PNG stay transparent.
Which quality setting should I choose?
Use High for logos, icons and screenshots with sharp text. Medium works well for photos, and Low gives the smallest files when some softening is acceptable.
Why is the WebP file so much smaller?
PNG stores every pixel without loss, while WebP uses smarter compression. For photos and gradients the saving is often more than half the original size.
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels, which covers photos from phones and most cameras. A file that takes longer than 2 minutes to convert is stopped so the page stays usable.
