Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to our server or anyone else.
Will the JPG be smaller than my PNG?
For photos, usually by a lot. For logos and screenshots with flat colours and sharp text, the PNG can be as small, and JPG may show faint smudges around text. The result list shows the size of every file.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas become white. Use a PNG or WebP converter if you need to keep them transparent.
Is EXIF data kept in the JPG file?
No. Re-encoding removes EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location, which is handy before you share photos online.
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels, which covers photos from phones and most cameras. A file that takes longer than 2 minutes to convert is stopped so the page stays usable.
