Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to our server or anyone else.
Why convert HEIC to WebP?
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhone, but many websites, content management systems and Windows apps cannot open it. WebP works in every modern browser and is usually much smaller than JPG at the same visual quality.
Which quality setting should I choose?
Medium is a good default for web pages. Pick High for photos you may edit or print later, and Low when file size matters most, for example email attachments or slow connections.
Do portrait photos stay upright?
Yes. The rotation stored in the HEIC file is applied before encoding, so photos keep the orientation you saw on your phone.
Is location data kept in the WebP file?
No. Re-encoding removes EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location, which is handy before you share photos online.
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels, which covers photos from phones and most cameras. A file that takes longer than 2 minutes to convert is stopped so the page stays usable.
